Details
The mission of the Ch-47 transport helicopter is to move supplies and soldiers from troops to batteries in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Its twin-rotor longitudinal structure eliminates the tail vertical propeller of the normal helicopter, allowing the airframe to take off and land vertically and reach speeds of up to 165 knots. It has one of the highest payloads of any U.S. Army helicopter in service.
